4/28/18 - Madisonville, LA

Today we drove to the start (or end) of the Tammany Trace in Covington.  This hiking trail is 31 miles long via a former Illinois Central Railroad corridor.  It is asphalt paved and runs from Covington to Slidell through Abita Springs and Mandeville along the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. We hiked from Covington to Abita Springs where we had a beer at Abita Brewing.  I talked a couple from Baton Rouge into taking us back to Covington.  Then we had a beer at Covington Brewing where we bought theirs for driving us back.  Our friends Gary and Linda who live in the area came to camp and took us to supper.  We ate at Mandina’s in Mandeville.  I think this was one of the best steaks I ever ate.  Then we went back to their home for drinks.  They drove is back to camp.
